North Western Queensland Floods - January/February 2009

On 12 January 2009, a rain depression caused by Ex Tropical Cyclone Charlotte exacerbated monsoonal flooding in the North Western Queensland region, isolating communities for an extended period.

To ensure a committed and effective response the Commonwealth Government is working closely with the Queensland Government to assist those affected.

Given the widespread impacts of the extreme flooding across Queensland, the Commonwealth Government is providing a range of measures to support those Australians who have been adversely affected.
